Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort Event Production
AVS Audio Visual Services Hawaii provides audio, LED video, projection, cameras, lighting, and technical crew for conferences, corporate meetings, and galas at Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort in Honolulu.
The resort's 26,400-square-foot Hawaiʻi Ballroom is pillarless, so every seat has a clear view of the stage. That open floor also means audio, screens, and lighting have to be designed together around the final seating plan. Our Honolulu team works from a Kapolei warehouse about 25 miles away, so equipment and crew are already on Oʻahu.

Audio Systems Engineered for the Space
A wide pillarless ballroom demands uniform coverage across a broad seating area. AVS designs audio systems using d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers, strategically positioned fills and delays, Yamaha digital consoles, Shure Axient Digital wireless systems, RF coordination, intercom, and experienced engineers so attendees receive clear, consistent program audio from one side of the room to the other. The Hawaiʻi Ballroom’s broad, pillarless footprint creates excellent sightlines, but it also makes even audio coverage a design priority. AVS evaluates the final stage and seating orientation to determine where mains, fills, delays, and wireless coverage are needed so the room feels consistent rather than loud in front and distant in the rear.
Long Wall or Short Wall? Staging the Hawaiʻi Ballroom
The Hawaiʻi Ballroom measures about 120 by 220 feet, and which wall the stage faces changes everything. A stage on the long wall puts the audience closer, with no seat more than about 120 feet away, but the seating spreads very wide. A stage on the short wall creates a deep room where the back rows are much farther from the presenter.
AVS plans the stage, screens, and speakers around that choice. On a long-wall setup, wide INFiLED 2.6mm LED walls or side screens keep content readable from the far ends, and d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers with side fills cover the full width. On a short-wall setup, delay speakers and delay screens carry sound and IMAG to the back. Either way, Sony HDC-3100 cameras feed IMAG, mixed on Yamaha digital consoles with Shure Axient Digital wireless.
Lighting for General Sessions, Galas, and Poolside Receptions
Presenter lighting at Sheraton Waikiki is designed for both the live audience and the cameras. In the evening, intelligent fixtures, branded room washes, and scenic lighting turn the same Hawaiʻi Ballroom into a setting for an awards program or gala.
For receptions on the Edge Pool Deck, the lighting takes a lighter touch, with battery-powered uplights, accent lighting, and entertainment lighting that complement the ocean and Diamond Head views instead of competing with them. We carry your brand colors from the morning session through the evening reception, so the whole program feels connected.
Planning Each Space at Sheraton Waikiki
-
Hawaiʻi Ballroom: Approximately 26,400 square feet, pillarless, and divisible into four sections. Its width makes sightline planning, screen placement, audio coverage, and presenter lighting especially important for larger general sessions.
-
Kauaʻi Room: About 6,832 square feet with a 23-foot ceiling, seating 900 theater-style, for second general sessions, overflow, and dinners.
-
Maui, Lānaʻi & Molokaʻi Rooms: Mid-sized rooms for breakouts, workshops, and concurrent sessions, each supported with matched AV packages.
-
Ballroom Foyer: About 8,160 square feet with a 10-foot ceiling, for registration, sponsor displays, and exhibits.
-
Edge Pool Deck: Banquet seating for up to 1,000 beside the Edge Infinity Pool, with ocean and Diamond Head views. Because it's also a guest pool, event timing is set with the resort.
